Proudly Italian with an African heart, Barbara first came to Kenya in 1978.  Shortly after, her mother moved to Northern Kenya where she ran a lodge on the shores of Lake Turkana and one in Laikipia. Barbara has lived in Italy, the United States, Egypt, Switzerland, and the UAE. Working as a Relief Manager in Kenya for a couple of years deepened her love for the wildlife and the bush.

Barbara is trained as classical musician and is passionate about Opera, cooking, fitness, photography, the environment and the life of each and every animal on earth. Which a couple of years ago led her to the decision to become vegetarian… trying to be vegan as much as she can. Her daughter Jessica lives in the USA while Barbara shares her life with her beloved 4th generation Kenyan husband Mandhi.

While living in Dubai Barbara overcame the stress and depression of a traumatic experience by getting the fittest she had ever been in her life at 42, through the “Body for Life” method, and became a passionate Fitness Instructor. Barbara tries to pass on and transmit the many advantages of being fit in the mind and body to the people that participate in her classes.
Barbara teaches different classes in different locations around Nairobi, ranging from “Flow”, a lovely combination of tai-chi, yoga and pilates, to “Combat” which incorporates martial arts and is great for fitness. Below is an example of her timetables; Barbara also teaches at Karen Surgery and Rhapta Road in Westlands.
