It’s dog license time again! Everything you need to know…

Does your dog have his 2012 dog license?  It is required that all dogs over 6 months of age must be registered by City Council, receive a tag and pay the license fee of Ksh500/-.  City Council Askari’s do make the rounds to check dog licenses and if you don’t have one, they can and will take your dogs away, leaving you to track them down, pay the fine and get them released.  If nothing else, make sure your own guard/askari is aware of this and to not let them into the compound/house.

Scary stuff huh?  So, I have been chatting Mrs Sue Taylor at the East Africa Kennel Club to find out if we can help you get your dog licenses.  As usual, City Council have already run out of the tags, but you do still need to pay and then you will be issued with a receipt which you can show the City Council Askaris if they come knocking.

EAKC send a courier into town every Monday to get at least the receipts for people.  So, if you would like to sort out your canine pals’ legal issues without having to go into town yourself, here’s the game plan:

–      You need to have an up to date vaccination certificate for each dog.

–      The fee for the license is Ksh500/- per dog.  Please add Ksh100/- to your payment to help EAKC with paying the courier.

–      Please put your vaccination certificates and money into an envelope with YOUR name and contact on it and give it to Debrah in the Business Centre of  Braeburn School, Gitanga Road by 5pm on Thursday.

–      We will then send the Braeburn collection to EAKC on Friday, so they can take it all on Monday.

–      We will then collect the receipts, et al from EAKC on Tuesday morning, and you can collect your envelope from Debs on Tuesday afternoon.

–      If you are not at Braeburn Gitanga Road, but would like to take advantage of this offer, please just hand your envelope to your school office and ask for it to be sent across to Debs in the Business Centre.  Make sure you put your school on the envelope so we can return your receipts and vaccination certificates to you.

I hope that’s clear, but if not, please contact me on [email protected]
